Starts online Sunday, January 17th (Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) Are you looking to take your newfound or existing skills to the next level? Are you ready to start selling your work, but don't know how to effectively promote yourself? Join us for this hands-on six-week series to learn how to: craft and refine your artist statement and biography; define your style; compile/organize images and content to set up a Wordpress site; choose an e-commerce platform; the best practices for using social media; and how to create traditional promotional materials, such as business cards and brochures. There will be discussions about grassroots and collaborative projects, pop-up shows, exhibiting, publications, and other art opportunities. You'll also learn additional tips and tricks from visiting artists.
This metalsmithing class is designed for students who have taken an introductory class and seek to build on their skills or continue existing intermediate project work in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. It begins by reinforcing the safe and proper use of essential tools and equipment. Students will then set out on several projects, including rings, bracelets and earrings, and learning skills and techniques like forging, texturizing, mark making/stamping, and soldering.
Starts Tuesday, January 19th (Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) Do you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as glazing, washes, scumbling, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Van Gogh and Paul Klee. And, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of of value, color, and composition. Great for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. A curriculum can be emailed upon request.
