We appreciate your interest in our classes for adults. Our 6-week Artist Series meet once a week for 3 hours and cost $250 per 6-week session. Our One-Day Workshops typically cost $99. CANCELLATION POLICY

If cancelling up to a week before class starts, refunds are available (less a $25 processing fee).  /  If cancelling within a week before class starts, refunds are 25% of purchase price.  /  If cancelling within 48 hours of a class start, you will not receive a refund. We will do our best to find you a comparable class at our discretion.

The Magic of Collage 6-week Artist Series

Starts January 27th (Friday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.)

NOTE: Masks required (but open to a group vote at first class).

Discover the magic of collage! Brighten dark nights with simple materials with papers, fabric bits, photos, recycled envelopes and scraps, threads, stamps, stencils and studio ephemera. Experiment with 2D design principles, expand upon uses of collage, and encounter some exciting collage artists of the past and present. Select personal motifs to follow and unfold by cutting and pasting. Explore minimalist formats to assemble images and words. Create a small paper or fabric quilt, scroll, booklet, zine, or altered book. Some supplies provided.

Suggested supply kit: Mild adhesives (no spray): Sobo glue, modge podge paste, or mat medium and brush, scissors, Xacto snap knife or other Xacto blade, brushes or various types, simple watercolor kit, crayons, colored pencils, markers, water soluble crayons or pencils, highlighters, glitter or gel pens, correction fluid, magazines or print outs, photocopies, discarded envelopes, old cards, lettraset or letterform stamps, photographs, clippings, thread, fabric, needles, paper, tracing paper, colored or patterned papers, studio ephemera or scraps (used pigment on palette paper, old drawings), stencils, stamps, stamp pad, small lino plates, Gelli plates, Yupo, awl, single hole punch, long stapler, etc. Plus, access to Staples or printer, computer, second hand shops.

Provided by instructor: cutting mats, scissors, brushes, markers, pencils, erasers, basic watercolors, colored pencils, some crayons, cups, rags, cardboard, some samples of papers, samples of books/booklets, and book formats.

Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. (ZOOM option available.)

IMPORTANT: Masks required (group will determine whether this is needed).

 

 

Instructor bio: Alex Rheault teaches painting at Artascope and rotates 2D, Forensics of Fashion, and Painting at UNE. Rheault explores domestic and discarded objects, natural forms and patterns, skyscapes, cars, film, land the imagined and the language of collage in visual and writing projects.
