DESCRIPTION:Plein air painting methods two-day workshop (4.5 hours each day) on Tuesday\, June 6th and Tuesday\, June 20th from 9AM-1:30PM each day. \nNOTE: Masks are optional in this series when class is outside. When indoors\, please wear a mask. \nPainting outdoors can be a challenging task due to the abundance of visual information and decisions that need to be made. However\, having a set procedure or methodology for plein air painting can help ensure that you create excellent paintings. This workshop will help you develop your own methodology for painting outside. With a methodology\, you can paint with more purpose and efficiency\, allowing you to capture the ever-changing light more effectively. Designed for those familiar with their chosen medium. Students can paint or draw in any medium. \nClass 1 on June 6th: Meet at 9AM at Artascope. \nClass 2 on June 20th: Meet at 9AM at Grist Mill Park in Yarmouth. \n$149 workshop fee does not include materials. A supply list can be found below the instructor bio. \n \n  \n\n\n  \nMust register before June 4th to attend two-day workshop format. Ball is a nationally renowned landscape painter known for her innovative use of watercolor in combination with a textured ground and specialized surfaces. She received her BA in Art history and Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville\, Maine\, and continued her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and Tyler School of Art. Deena’s work is exhibited extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic region\, and can be found in issues of Watercolor Artist and the annual publications of the watercolor book\, Splash. DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nSignet Ring Wax Carving Two-day Workshop on April 16th (full-day) and May 7th (half-day). \nLearn the ancient technique of lost wax casting. In the first class on Sunday\, April 16th from 9AM-4PM\, you will design\, lay out\, and carve a signet ring in your choice of several shapes. \nWe next meet on Sunday\, May 7th from 9AM-NOON for you to clean up and finish your ring after it is cast in your choice of silver or brass. \nBasic wax carving\, tool use\, and finishing techniques will be covered. No prior metalsmithing experience necessary. \n$149 workshop fee does not include materials. Supply kit available from instructor for $35 on first workshop day. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm on the first workshop day. SUMMARY:Introduction to Palette Knife Painting One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nIn this one-day workshop\, you will learn how to mix your paint on a palette sheet and on the canvas\, and how to create different effects with just a palette knife. A class critique will be held at the end of the day\, and handouts will be provided. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. A materials fee of $30 is due the day of the workshop (cash preferred) and covers: \n\nclass/instruction/supervised painting time\ndemo of techniques\n2 canvases/pp\nseveral knives/pp\nhandout about palette knife painting\ndisposable palettes\n\n(Acrylic paints will be provided for use at workshop only.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Ever a doodler and mentally composing art works from scenes around her\, she finally started sketching lessons at age 28. She hasn’t stopped learning or producing art since. Training in various mediums and styles followed. She continues to paint in watercolors\, oils\, acrylics\, and pastels. Her favorite content includes people\, old architecture\, and landscapes. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:CLASS IS FULL. \nStarts Tuesday\, March 14th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nIMPORTANT: Masks required\, but a vote will be taken at first class to determine comfort level of group to switch to optional. \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request \nFee does not include materials. The required $20 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor.
