SUMMARY:Hammered Chain-Making One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 10th from 10:00AM-5:00PM\nMaking a chain with clasp is a fun way to cover many aspects to working with metal and making a unique hand-made piece of jewelry. It includes forming\, cutting or sawing\, filing\, annealing\, soldering\, hammering\, and clasp-making. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. \nThe materials kit ranges from $10 for copper or brass and $20 for sterling silver and can be purchased from the instructor at the beginning of the workshop. Please bring cash to pay for the kit. \n(For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nStarts March 20th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. Supply kit is available from the instructor for $35 when series begins. Additional supplies are available to purchase separately as needed for class projects. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Carly Cooke has been a full-time bench jeweler since 2012\, and started her business\, Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018.
