SUMMARY:Expressions in Painting WEDNESDAY 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts July 1st (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nCLASS DATES: 7/1; 7/8; 7/15; 7/22; 7/29; and 8/5 \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. SUMMARY:Bezel Earrings One-Day Metalsmithing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 30th from 9:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. \nMake your new favorite pair of earrings in this Mixed Metals earrings class. \n\n\n\nYou will learn how to use a jewelers torch\, saw through sheet metal\, create handmade bezel cups with bezel wire\, create handmade ear wires\, and use various dremel attachments for sanding and finishing metal. Beginners welcome! \nMetals we will be using to make one pair of earrings: \n\nCopper Sheet Metal\nBrass Sheet Metal\nSterling Silver Bezel Cups\nSterling Silver Ear Wire\nSterling Silver Jump Rings\n\n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. \nThe materials fee is $55\, which includes stones and metal options to make one pair of earrings. This separate fee is paid to the instructor via Venmo\, CASH\, or credit card. \n(For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch . The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Olivia Boi creates jewelry at her home and metals studio in Maine. Sterling silver\, brass\, and beautifully cut stones are the bread and butter to her practice. She started Strong Moon Metals December 2017 and hasn’t looked back ever since.
