SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 15th from 9:30AM-4:30PM \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \n*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \nThis class will be held in our new location [opening in early February 2026] at 138 Bayview Street\, Yarmouth\, ME. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. She has been teaching Beginning Metalsmithing and other workshops at Artascope since 2016 and is thrilled to be part of a friendly & creative community. SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing - Monday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:NEW START DATE of March 30th (Mondays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nPLEASE REGISTER BY 3/28/26 OR SOONER!\nExpand your knowledge in this experimental intermediate series. Use your skills and knowledge from Beginner Metalsmithing and explore your ideas further in the direction of more advanced jewelry making. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK AND PENCIL. NOTE: In this Intermediate series\, students will provide their own materials and can work in copper\, brass\, bronze\, and/or sterling silver. A link to a recommended materials list can be found below or you can bring in materials you already own. \nFYI: Due to the high cost of silver from the metals market fluctuation in 2026\, we recommend you purchase less expensive metals\, such as brass or copper to practice the techniques covered in this series. \nStudents will make: \n\n1 pair of earrings\n1 ring with bezel set stone\n1 pendant with bezel set stone\n2 independent study projects (project of your choice with what you have learned)\n\nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNOTE: There will be no materials kit for this intermediate class.
