SUMMARY:Foundations of Ceramics 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts Monday\, February 2nd (Mondays from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.) \nStudents will learn the fundamental techniques used when working with clay. Students will be learning how to make pinch pots\, slab built pots\, and coil pots. This class will also include an introduction to the Potters Wheel. Students will create both functional and non-functional work\, Electric kiln firing will be available and each person will be working at their own level with the guidance of the instructor. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. Clay and glaze can be purchased from Portland Pottery or from the instructor. \nThis series will be held in our new location [opening in early February 2026] at 138 Bayview Street\, Yarmouth\, ME. \n\n\n \n  \n  \n\n\n\nAbout the instructor: Barry Harrison attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics. \nClick here to view our cancellation policy. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nAlthough there are tools available for use in the studio\, if you prefer to have your own tools\, these are the basic materials to bring to class: \n–Basic Pottery Tool Kit \n–Apron (or wear something that can get dirty) \n–Small plastic bucket \n–Rags \n–Gloves \n–Dust mask \nYou can order a Basic Pottery Tool kit from Dick Blick or a local craft store.

Glaze your personal pieces and come away with truly unique finished pieces. Learn five different techniques in the six week session as well as glazing ideas\, plus “tricks of the trade” for intermediate students and more technical advice if wanted. \nFee does not include materials.
