SUMMARY:Pastels for Beginners 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 5th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nWhether you’re new to pastels or are seeking a creative outlet\, you’ll learn everything you need to create gorgeous pastel artwork—from tools and materials to simple techniques—such as blending\, layering\, and shading to create colorful artworks with deep textures. You will learn what paper to use\, what types of pastels to choose\, and how to protect your finished painting/drawing. A recommended supply list can be emailed upon request. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \nOpen to ages 16 and up. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Meara is a Maine artist currently studying studio art at the University of Southern Maine. Meara has been drawing and painting in her personal art practice for over 7 years\, in which she has experimented with many mediums from pastels to 3D design. Taking from her studies at Parsons School of Design and private art mentoring over the years\, she uses her own art as a place where whimsical creativity and realism meet. SUMMARY:Introduction to Palette Knife Painting One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this one-day workshop\, you will learn how to mix your paint on a palette sheet and on the canvas\, and how to create different effects with just a palette knife. A class critique will be held at the end of the day\, and handouts will be provided. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. A materials fee of $30 is due the day of the workshop (cash preferred) and covers: \n\nclass/instruction/supervised painting time\ndemo of techniques\n2 canvases/pp\nseveral knives/pp\nhandout about palette knife painting\ndisposable palettes\n\n(Acrylic paints will be provided for use at workshop only.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. We’ll help with that\, too. \nAward-winning artist\, Gerard Bianco\, has been guiding artists for over forty years\, teaching the craft of painting from the ground up. From the basics to the more intricate and subtle aspects of painting\, his hands-on approach will help you to mix colors\, understand values\, and learn the craft of painting to take your art to new heights.
