DESCRIPTION:Starts January 17th (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \nMasks are optional for this series. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. SUMMARY:Joy of Watercolor 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts Monday\, January 22nd (Mondays from 1:30PM-4:30PM for six weeks.) \nNOTE: Masks are required in this series. \nEach week\, class will dive into one aspect of watercolor painting. Color\, water to pigment ratios\, composition\, brush strokes and value. In the beginning of each session\, students will complete several exercises on the daily topic\, and then move on to their individual painting project where they will focus on the skills we have just learned. Ball is a nationally renowned landscape painter known for her innovative use of watercolor in combination with a textured ground and specialized surfaces. She received her BA in Art history and Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville\, Maine\, and continued her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and Tyler School of Art. Deena’s work is exhibited extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic region\, and can be found in issues of Watercolor Artist and the annual publications of the watercolor book\, Splash. Deena’s work is primarily landscapes with many of her paintings done on location outside.
