SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing Guided Studio Wednesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts September 23rd (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nThis class is an opportunity to bring your specific interests to the bench and receive help creating the jewelry that YOU want to make. Students should feel comfortable ordering their own materials and working mostly independently with occasional guidance. The instructor will provide demos of techniques related to your projects\, but will not guide you through a specific project\, so be prepared to come to class with your own ideas. Take the skills you already have to a new level by designing and creating your own pieces\, with support in bringing them to life! \nMaterials are not included in the class price. Kit fee is $10 for communal tools\, solder\, etc. Additional materials can be purchased as needed. \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \n6-week Series Cost – Non-members: $300 for 6 weeks. Members: $240. \n6-week Series + Trial Membership* bundle: $350 (Non-members can use promo code 6WKTRIALMETALS when registering to reveal access to a 6-week Series + Trial Membership bundle. Trial membership includes access to studio tools and equipment\, 20+ hours of weekly member open studio time for six weeks\, plus the chance to be a part of our creative family. *20% discount on classes is not included.) \n \n  \n  \nDue to daily increases in the cost of metal\, the cost of materials is subject to change. \n\nAbout the instructor: Carly has been working in the professional jewelry business for 13 years\, and started her company\, Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018. After learning the basics of fabrication and repair as a bench jeweler\, she spent an inspiring year in Florence\, Italy\, taking classes in gemology\, wax carving\, rendering\, and stone setting. Many of the unique engraved finishes and detail techniques Carly uses in her designs were passed down from the expert hands of jewelers working in the traditional Italian metalsmithing style. In her sunny Westbrook\, Maine studio\, Carly spends hours twisting fine wires\, forming small beads of metal\, and engraving each piece. Old world techniques\, antique design inspiration\, and a fresh take on classic concepts are Flux specialties. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \nClick here to view our cancellation policy.
