SUMMARY:Masterworks 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 1st (Mondays\, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nLearn from the master painters\, such as Edward Hopper\, Vincent Van Gogh and Fairfield Porter. Sometimes the best way to learn is to “apprentice” from master painters of the past. In the process of copying these magnificent works of art\, you can learn the nuances that the artists themselves explored. This class will use acrylic paints and will raise your understanding of what creates a good painting\, from composition to color mixing and line work. Throughout the six weeks\, you’ll advance your technical understanding\, value relationships\, and brushwork such as glazing and proper mixing techniques. Great for beginners or intermediate painters. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nClass dates: Nov. 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, Dec. 6 \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \n \n  \n  \nNOTE: COVID-19 protocols are in place for the safety of our teachers and students\, including wearing masks while inside the building. \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Van Gogh and Paul Klee. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color\, and composition. Great for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism.
