SUMMARY:Beginning (PART ONE) Wheel Throwing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts March 23rd (Mondays from 1:30PM-4:30PM for 6 weeks). \nLearn centering solutions and how to pull up a cylinder the first week. See trimming techniques and finishing options the second week. From there we will cover spouts and handles and glaze techniques. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts March 24th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet\, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with. \n*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026. \nOptional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects). \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine.
