DESCRIPTION:Starts November 5th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nWhether you’re new to pastels or are seeking a creative outlet\, you’ll learn everything you need to create gorgeous pastel artwork—from tools and materials to simple techniques—such as blending\, layering\, and shading to create colorful artworks with deep textures. You will learn what paper to use\, what types of pastels to choose\, and how to protect your finished painting/drawing. Meara has been drawing and painting in her personal art practice for over 7 years\, in which she has experimented with many mediums from pastels to 3D design. Taking from her studies at Parsons School of Design and private art mentoring over the years\, she uses her own art as a place where whimsical creativity and realism meet. SUMMARY:Beginner Bezel Setting Thursday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nStarts Thursday\, November 6th (Thursday mornings from 10:00AM-1:00PM for six weeks.) \nCLASS DATES: 11/6; 11/13; 11/20; 12/4; 12/11; and 12/18. (There is no class on 11/27.) \nThis course is a full overview of bezel settings\, starting with simple bezels and progressing up to custom setting unusual shapes. The first half of the series is project based. We will be making a pair of earrings\, a ring\, and a pendant. The second half of the series will be a self-designed project with instructor support. For the final project\, a selection of stones will be available but students are also welcome to bring in small stones or objects from home. This is a beginner class\, no prior metalsmithing experience is needed! \nFee does not include materials. The materials fee is $40 and includes everything needed to complete the course\, including your choice of stones. The materials kit can be purchased directly from the instructor with Venmo or cash at the first class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Racheal Cooley has a degree in art and biology. SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 9th from 9:30AM-4:30PM \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $30 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. SUMMARY:Foundations of Ceramics 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts Monday\, November 10th (Mondays from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.) \nStudents will learn the fundamental techniques used when working with clay. Students will be learning how to make pinch pots\, slab built pots\, and coil pots. This class will also include an introduction to the Potters Wheel. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 11th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $30 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor.
