DESCRIPTION:Starts July 1st (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nCLASS DATES: 7/1; 7/8; 7/15; 7/22; 7/29; and 8/5 \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. SUMMARY:Teen Beginner Painting - Summer Session
DESCRIPTION:Starts Wednesday\, July 8th (Wednesday & Thursday afternoons\, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. twice a week for a total of 18 hours of instruction.) \n\n\nCLASS DATES: July 8th & 9th; July 15th & 16th\, (skip the week of July 22nd & 23rd); last week of classes runs July 29th & 30th. \nWelcome to the vibrant world of acrylic painting! In this teen class\, we will embark on an exciting journey of creativity\, color\, and expression. Acrylic paint is a versatile medium that offers endless possibilities for artists of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience\, this class will provide you with the skills and techniques needed to bring your imagination to life on canvas. From mastering brushstrokes to understanding color mixing\, we will explore the basics. Open to teens\, ages 13 to 18. \n$250 class fee does not include materials. The materials fee is $40 and is paid at the first class with cash or check. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Mikaelyn Teel is a plein air\, impressionistic\, abstract-style painter with a passion for helping students discover and develop their own natural talent and artistic eye through acrylic painting here at Artascope studio. Some greats she aspires to are Claude Monet\, Vincent Van Gogh\, Maurice de Vlaminck\, Henri Matisse. Her work embraces shadows\, light\, bold and subtle color\, emotion\, movement\, texture\, and the beauty of what speaks to her in the moment. She is currently a full-time nursing student at the University of Maine at Augusta and will graduate with her BSN in holistic nursing in 2028. Her goal after graduation is to combine holistic health practices through music\, movement\, nature\, and art therapy. \nShe is deeply passionate about creativity\, self-expression\, and building community through art. In this summer course for teens at Artascope\, students will explore color theory\, composition\, value\, and acrylic painting while working from real life and reference photos. Most importantly\, she wants her classes to feel inspiring\, uplifting\, encouraging\, and full of creative freedom. She truly believes we are all creative\, and painting can be one of the most powerful ways to express emotions and feelings when words and the world around us don’t make sense.
