SUMMARY:Bezel Setting One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT\, but you can add yourself to the waitlist. \nSunday\, February 4th from 9AM-4PM \nThis workshop will walk students through the technique of bezel setting stone. Students will be introduced to the tools and techniques required to make custom\, handmade jewelry. No prior experience needed. \nDuring the first half of the workshop we will cover soldering and setting stones by making a pair of earrings using bezel cups. After the lunch break\, we will learn how to measure the stone and construct our own bezel using bezel wire. SUMMARY:Foundations of Ceramics WEDNESDAY 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nStarts Wednesday\, January 24th (Mondays from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.) \nEnjoy a hands-on educational and artistic experience using clay. Students will learn fundamental making and decorating techniques including wheel throwing\, handbuilding and glazing\, as well as sculpting techniques such as coil building\, pinching and handbuilding to create functional and non-functional work. Weekly projects include making cups\, bowls\, and plates. Electric kiln-firing will be available and each person will be working at his or her own level with the guidance of the instructor. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nMasks are optional for this series. \nFee does not include materials. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $20 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. DESCRIPTION:Learn a non-toxic method of oil painting that does not require turpentine. We will cover the initial set up and clean up in addition to learning how to apply the paint to various substrates. We will cover a variety of content\, painting from observation and also learning how to paint from photographs. We will cover color and composition. SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional in this workshop. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 14th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional\, except when using rotary tools for sanding and buffing. \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request \nFee does not include materials. The required $20 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor.
