SUMMARY:Bezel Setting Wednesday One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, January 15th from 9:00AM-4:00PM \nThis workshop will walk students through the technique of bezel setting stone. Students will be introduced to the tools and techniques required to make custom\, handmade jewelry. No prior experience needed. \nDuring the first half of the workshop we will cover soldering and setting stones by making a pair of earrings using bezel cups. After the lunch break\, we will learn how to measure the stone and construct our own bezel using bezel wire. At the completion of the workshop\, you will have mastered the technique of bezel setting and take home a unique\, hand crafted pair of earrings and a pendant. An overview can be emailed upon request. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The materials supply kit to make the earrings and pendant only (no chain) is $30 and can be purchased directly from the instructor with Venmo or cash. Extra material will be available for purchase. Students are also welcome to bring their own tools or materials. \n(For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. SUMMARY:Beginner Gouache Painting One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 3rd from 9AM-4PM\nIn this workshop we will discuss techniques\, planning a composition\, and how to build a painting in gouache. Students will learn how to mix paint\, how to handle it\, and properties unique to gouache paint. We will begin with a demonstration and warm up exercises. After a lunch break we will begin drawing out compositions and bringing a final painting to life! \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. A supply list can be found below the instructor bio photo. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. SUMMARY:Book Binding for Beginners One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 23rd from 9:00AM-4:00PM \nCome explore the art and craft of book binding. We begin this full day book arts workshop with Calligraphic Page Design. These decorative papers will then be used to bind three beginner bindings. We will learn the anatomy of the book while we bind soft and hard covered Pamphlet Books. Then the Stab Binding\, which introduces an Eastern style of book binding. Finally\, we will explore the Accordion Artist Book and begin to express our creative ideas on the pages of this very versatile book structure. Bring your favorite poem or other inspiration to create from. \nBook-making tools will be available for use. Feel free to bring your favorite papers and collage materials. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the basics of paper decorating\, book binding and artist book concepts. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased directly from the instructor the morning of the workshop. \nOpen to adults\, but those aged 15 and up are welcome if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Joelle Webber has spent over forty years collecting book arts techniques. SUMMARY:Signet Ring Wax Carving Two-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Signet Ring Wax Carving Two-day Workshop on October 20th (full-day) and November 10th (half-day). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn the ancient technique of wax carving in this two-day workshop (9 hours total). \nIn the first class on Sunday\, October 20th from 9AM-4PM\, you will design\, lay out\, and carve a signet ring out of wax in your choice of several shapes. We will meet three weeks later on Sunday\, November 10th from 9AM-NOON for you to clean up and finish your ring after it is cast in either silver or brass. Basic wax carving\, tool use\, and finishing techniques will be covered. The casting process will occur off-site during the three weeks between classes. No prior metalsmithing experience necessary. \n$149 workshop fee does not include materials.
