Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nStarts March 20th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. SUMMARY:Beginning Part Two Wheel Throwing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts March 20th (Wednesdays from 1:30PM-4:30PM for 6 weeks) \nBrush up on your skills and follow up on what was learned in Wheel Throwing Part One. Participants must be reasonably comfortable (not proficient\, but know the procedure) with centering and throwing a three inch cylinder. We will review centering and throwing a cylinder and go on from there to making different lids\, handles\, and go over glazing. Also covered will be bowls and various spouts. The instructor can demonstrate most things students are interested in or curious about. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nStarts March 19th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional\, except when using rotary tools for sanding and buffing. \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $20 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor.
