SUMMARY:Expressions in Painting WEDNESDAY 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts June 25th (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nNOTE–Class dates are: 6/25; 7/9; 7/16: 7/30; 8/6; and 8/13. (There is no class on 7/2 due to holiday week and 7/23 due to instructor being out of town). \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. Check our calendar for alternate dates for this workshop which is offered often during the year. \nSunday\, June 29th from 9:30AM-4:30PM \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. She has been teaching Beginning Metalsmithing and other workshops at Artascope since 2016 and is thrilled to be part of a friendly & creative community.
