There is no class on 4/23. In the event of a weather cancellation\, a make-up date would be held on 5/7. \nThis course is a full overview of bezel settings\, starting with simple bezels and progressing up to custom setting unusual shapes. The first half of the series is project based. We will be making a pair of earrings\, a ring\, and a pendant. The second half of the series will be a self-designed project with instructor support. For the final project\, a selection of stones will be available but students are also welcome to bring in small stones or objects from home. This is a beginner class\, no prior metalsmithing experience is needed! \nFee does not include materials. A basic materials kit is $50 and includes everything needed to complete the course\, including your choice of stones. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials.
