DESCRIPTION:Starts July 1st (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nCLASS DATES: 7/1; 7/8; 7/15; 7/22; 7/29; and 8/5 \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. SUMMARY:Foundations of Ceramics 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts Monday\, July 6th (Mondays from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.) \nStudents will be learning how to make pinch pots\, slab built pots\, and coil pots. This class will also include throwing on the Potters Wheel for those who are interested. Students will create both functional and non-functional work. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts July 7th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The required kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet\, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with. \n*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026. \nOptional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects). \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine.
