SUMMARY:Expressions in Painting THURSDAY 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 9th (Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nNOTE: There is no class on Thanksgiving day (11/23). The last class will be on 12/21. \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional for this series. \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as washes\, scumbling\, sgraffitto\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color and composition. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Anne Schutz is a painter who lives and works in the Greater Portland area. She transforms and interprets Nature’s patterns and design to demonstrate variety of scale\, line\, form and beauty she observes. Anne received a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and a MFA in Painting from Boston University. SUMMARY:Acrylic Techniques 6-week Artist Series - THURSDAY PM
DESCRIPTION:Starts November 9th (Thursday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nNOTE: Class dates will be: 11/9; 11/16; 11/30; 12/7; 12/14; and 12/21. There is no class on Thanksgiving Day.  \nArtists explore basic acrylic painting techniques in a flexible\, supportive setting. Color mixing and theories\, paint and imagery layering\, composition\, and other fundamentals are discussed. We paint and interpret from observation\, printed photos and imagination. Contemporary and past artists act as kindred spirits and influence weekly prompts. We begin with a demo and warm up on paper\, then develop ideas on canvas. All levels are welcome. \nSupplies: Supply list will be emailed by the instructor before the first class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. She is fond of exploring the beauty of flowers by painting with an unusual perspective and deeply vibrant and saturated color.
