SUMMARY:Expressions in Painting 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts March 23rd (Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nDo you have a desire to explore yourself through acrylic painting? Do you want to learn playful and visually appealing techniques that will help you communicate your artistic vision? This class will instruct you in the basics of expressionist painting techniques such as glazing\, washes\, scumbling\, and adding texture. You will learn about the great expressionist painters such as Van Gogh and Paul Klee. And\, you will discover a wealth of new tools to improve your paintings through use of value\, color\, and composition. Great for beginners who wish to learn the essentials of painting or for intermediate painters looking to break out of realism. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. DESCRIPTION:Starts March 24th (Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.) \nThis series is a hybrid class\, with an in-person option at the studio for up to 6 attendees\, and additional seats available as remote only. All students can use the hybrid option as needed. \nArtists explore basic acrylic painting techniques in a flexible\, supportive setting. Color mixing and theories\, paint and imagery layering\, composition\, and other fundamentals are discussed. We paint and interpret from observation\, photo or printed references\, and imagination. Contemporary and past artists act as kindred spirits and influence weekly prompts. We begin with a demo and warm up canvas\, then develop ideas based on colors from one source and imagery from another (artists’ works\, participants’ own photos\, project ideas\, etc.). All levels are welcome. \nSupplies: Contact Alex before purchasing any supplies if you are new to the series. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks.
