Join our one day bangle making workshop where you will leave with 3 sterling silver bangles at the end of the day. Brass will also be available to add on accents to the bangles. \nPLEASE BRING A SKETCHBOOK AND PENCIL. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $45 materials kit can be purchased from the instructor at the beginning of the workshop via Venmo\, CASH\, or credit card. \n(For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have a 20-minute break\, so feel free to bring a snack. \nOpen to adults only. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Olivia Boi creates jewelry at her home and metals studio in Maine. Sterling silver\, brass\, and beautifully cut stones are the bread and butter to her practice. She started Strong Moon Metals December 2017 and hasn’t looked back ever since. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. She has been teaching Beginning Metalsmithing and other workshops at Artascope since 2016 and is thrilled to be part of a friendly & creative community. SUMMARY:Decoratively Bound Books One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 23rd from 9:00AM-4:00PM \nExpand your book binding skills learning a new hand bound book! We begin this full day book arts workshop by designing our Paste Papers. These decorative papers will then be used to bind two multi-gathering books with decorative stitching. The French Sewn is a twisted decorative stitch sewn on tabs\, which will be laced into a folded paper cover. The link stitched book is sewn with two needles into a concertina cover. \nTools & materials will be provided\, but feel free to bring your favorite papers and collage materials. \nGreat for beginners who wish to learn the basics of paper decorating\, book binding and artist book concepts. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased directly from the instructor the morning of the workshop. \nOpen to adults\, but those aged 15 and up are welcome if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \n \n  \n  \n\nInstructor bio: Joelle Webber has spent over forty years collecting book arts techniques. At Mermaid Bindery she provides custom book binding and box making services for others\, including rebinding well loved books.
