SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 11th from 9:30AM-4:30PM\nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. She has been teaching Beginning Metalsmithing and other workshops at Artascope since 2016 and is thrilled to be part of a friendly & creative community. With a focus on painting what you see rather than what you think you see\, Liz will guide you in creating gorgeous water and sky scenes. Focusing on color and composition\, this workshop will provide you with tools to help you get to the heart of what you want to say. Explore all the blues in your paint box\, learn to mix the multitude of colors seen in water reflections and play with hard vs. soft edges. Paint in acrylics or oils. She exhibits her work throughout New England. She is a graduate of Maine College of Art (BFA 2000) and Vermont College of Fine Arts (MFA 2003 Visual Arts). Her work is included in the permanent collections at the Portland Museum of Art\, Colby College\, Bowdoin College\, New York Public Library\, and the University of New England. She is a founding member of Meetinghouse Arts Gallery in Freeport\, where she remains an active gallery committee member.
