DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nSaturday\, August 5th from 1:30PM-7:30PM\nTake an exciting journey through the fundamentals of the metals studio with this metalsmithing workshop! Learn the basics of tools\, safety\, soldering\, forming\, and stone setting as you create your unique bezel ring or pendant. Beginners are welcome; a $30 materials fee will provide all the supplies needed to complete the project. SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional in this workshop. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. SUMMARY:Simplify Your Landscape Through Composition One-Day Workshop

Part of the Plein Air Art Festival. \nJoin renowned landscape painter Liz Prescott who will be teaching this one day workshop in simplifying your composition with creative interpretation to create strong landscape paintings. We’ve all heard the advice “simplify your composition.” This workshop answers the question “HOW do I simplify my paintings”? \nLiz will help you learn to see the large shapes in your scene and how to render them in simple color and tonal values. Learning how to organize the large masses will help you create landscape paintings that are more direct and more dynamic. What a treat to spend a whole day focused on composition and learning how to create a good foundation for your future landscape paintings. \nOpen to acrylic and oil painters. Please bring your sketching materials\, charcoal and drawing paper\, as well as a few blank canvases and your acrylic paints as well as your easel set up for painting outside.
