SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as roller-printing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$79 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Rick Stark comes to metalsmithing after a wide variety of experiences in woodworking\, blacksmithing and metalsmithing at Haystack Mountain School of Craft\, Artascope\, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship and the Wooden Boat School. SUMMARY:Crash Course Watercolor One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A six-hour crash course in painting with watercolors for first-timers or those who would like a refresher. \nLearn to create a beautiful wash\, layer and mix colors\, paint wet on wet and create luminous passages. Students will learn to manage the ratio of pigment to water and the importance of values in watercolor. Crash Course Watercolor will touch on many aspects of watercolor painting\, history\, materials\, innovative techniques and traditional watercolor. Activities will be a fun mix of painting analysis\, watercolor technique exercises\, demos and painting time. By the close of the workshop students will have completed an abstract watercolor design\, a small still life painting and a landscape. \nNOTE: This is an in-person workshop. If you prefer online\, we are also offering this same workshop on June 16th via ZOOM. \n$79 workshop fee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be found after the instructor bio\, OR you can rent a painting kit from the instructor for $20\, but she does need to know in advance if you want this option. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Ball is a nationally renowned landscape painter known for her innovative use of watercolor in combination with a textured ground and specialized surfaces. She received her BA in Art history and Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville\, Maine\, and continued her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and Tyler School of Art. Deena’s work is exhibited extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic region\, and can be found in issues of Watercolor Artist and the annual publications of the watercolor book\, Splash. Deena’s work is primarily landscapes with many of her paintings done on location outside.
