SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts May 15th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nCLASS DATES: 5/15; 5/22; 5/29\, and 6/12; 6/19; 6/26. There is no class on 6/5. \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nStarts March 20th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $20 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. SUMMARY:Signet Ring Wax Carving Two-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nLearn the ancient technique of lost wax casting in this two-day workshop! \nIn the first class on Sunday\, March 17th from 9AM-4PM\, you will design\, lay out\, and carve a signet ring out of wax in your choice of several shapes. We will meet three weeks later on Sunday\, April 7th from 9AM-NOON for you to clean up and finish your ring after it is cast in either silver or brass. Students will be introduced to the tools and techniques required to make custom\, handmade jewelry. After the lunch break\, we will learn how to measure the stone and construct our own bezel using bezel wire. DESCRIPTION:Starts November 14th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nIMPORTANT: Masks are optional\, except when using rotary tools for sanding and buffing. \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects.
