SUMMARY:Beginning/Intermediate Metalsmithing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:CLASS IS FULL. \nStarts Sunday\, March 20th (Sundays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for six weeks) \n​Class dates: March 20\, ​March ​27\, April 3\, ​April ​17\, May 1\, and May 8 \nParticipants will learn basic fabrication techniques such as piercing\, forming\, soldering\, hollow forms and surface finishing. There will be demonstrations on stone setting techniques for rings & pendants. Discussions will include applying the principles of design to jewelry making and how to improve craftsmanship. This class is open to beginners & intermediate metalsmiths. \nFee does not include materials. The $35 materials kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The kit includes sterling silver components. DESCRIPTION:Starts March 23rd (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks) \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel and tube gemstone settings\, piercing\, bench pin alterations\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. We will move through assigned projects but there will be plenty of room for creativity and exploration of what is specifically interesting to you. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. Carly pieced together her jewelry education through workshops at Haystack\, Metalwerks\, SMCC\, and an inspiring year in Florence\, Italy learning traditional metalsmithing techniques.
