SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts July 7th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The required kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet\, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with. \n*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026. \nOptional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects). \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. SUMMARY:Teen Beginner Metalsmithing - Summer Session
DESCRIPTION:Starts Wednesday\, July 8th (Wednesday & Thursday mornings\, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. twice a week for a total of 18 hours of instruction.) \nCLASS DATES: July 8th & 9th; July 15th & 16th\, (skip the week of July 22nd & 23rd); last week of morning classes runs July 29th & 30th. \nThis class will introduce teens (ages 13-18) to the basics of metalsmithing. Students will learn the tools and techniques required to make custom\, handmade jewelry. Techniques such as forming\, sawing\, soldering\, and riveting will be covered. We will be making rings\, earrings\, and pendants. No prior experience needed. An overview can be emailed upon request. Open to teens\, ages 13 to 18. \n$250 class fee does not include materials. The materials fee is $40 and can be purchased directly from the instructor with Venmo or cash at the first class. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Racheal Cooley has a degree in art and biology. She was first introduced to metalsmith jewelry making in high school and has had a passion for it ever since. SUMMARY:Spinner Rings - Saturday Metalsmithing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 11th from 1:30PM-7:30PM\nThis workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of the metals studio\, including tools\, safety\, soldering\, filing\, and sanding\, to help you create a beautiful and unique spinner ring.
