SUMMARY:Torch Fired Enamel - Saturday Metalsmithing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT.\nSaturday\, September 7th from 1:30PM-7:30PM\nLearn the basics of torch firing and fusing colored powdered glass enamel onto vintage pennies or copper shapes to create colorful metal pieces. The materials fee of $30 includes all necessary materials\, such as handouts\, enamels\, opalescent\, stringers\, ear wires and leather for pendants\, and display cards for gift giving. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nStarts September 24th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $25 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet\, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with. \nOptional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects). \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. \nStarts September 25th (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nCLASS DATES: 9/25; 10/2; 10/9; 10/16; 10/23; and 10/30 \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel setting for faceted gemstones\, saw piercing\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. Students will move through assigned projects\, including a pair of sterling silver “diamond” earrings (or two pendants)\, but there will be plenty of room for design creativity. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials.
