SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: Due to the snowstorm on 1/25/23\, this series has been rescheduled to start February 1st.\nNOTE: As of 1/17/23\, this series was rescheduled to start Wednesday\, January 25th.\nStarts February 1st (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks). \nCLASS DATES ARE: 12/1; 2/8; 2/22; 3/1; 3/8; and 3/15. There is no class on 2/15. \nIMPORTANT: Masks are required for this series.  \nBuilding upon foundational metalsmithing techniques\, this class will elevate your existing skills and inspire you to tackle more advanced jewelry projects. We will cover bezel and tube gemstone settings\, piercing\, bench pin alterations\, soldering techniques\, and finishing. We will move through assigned projects but there will be plenty of room for creativity and exploration of what is specifically interesting to you. Be prepared to learn tips and tricks that will advance your jewelry making to the next level! \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. A supply kit of sterling silver components is available from the instructor for $35 when series begins. Additional supplies are available to purchase separately as needed for class projects. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Carly Cooke has been a full-time bench jeweler since 2012\, and started her business\, Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018. Carly pieced together her jewelry education through workshops at Haystack\, Metalwerks\, SMCC\, and an inspiring year in Florence\, Italy learning traditional metalsmithing techniques. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \nIMPORTANT: Masks are required in this workshop. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The $25 materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only.
