SUMMARY:Beginner Gouache Painting One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 3rd from 9AM-4PM\nIn this workshop we will discuss techniques\, planning a composition\, and how to build a painting in gouache. Students will learn how to mix paint\, how to handle it\, and properties unique to gouache paint. We will begin with a demonstration and warm up exercises. After a lunch break we will begin drawing out compositions and bringing a final painting to life! \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. A supply list can be found below the instructor bio photo. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Jessica Myer earned her MFA in 2013 with a focus in illustrative painting\, specific to children’s books. She has an extensive background in fine art gallery management and\, most recently\, has taught art to youth groups local to Cumberland County. Over the years she has taught a wide variety of audiences in the New England area including New York\, Massachusetts\, and Maine. Myer is now working as a studio artist in Portland\, Maine. SUMMARY:Foundational Drawing 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts Friday\, November 8th (Fridays from 9AM-Noon for six weeks.) \nClass dates: 11/8; 11/15; 11/22; 12/6; 12/13; and 12/20. THERE IS NO CLASS ON 11/29. \nFoundational Drawing with artist Chris Magnuson takes a fresh approach to improving drawing skills by introducing students to exercises\, techniques and drawing media that might be new to you\, while demystifying some aspects that might have been intimidating. \nWhether your goal is improving your painting results through better drawing\, solidifying your sketchbook or journaling projects\, or simply drawing with more confidence and authority–artists of all levels can benefit from this energetic and enjoyable exploration of art’s most fundamental skill–drawing. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nFee does not include materials. \nWhat to bring for the first class: Mixed-Media sketchbook approximately 11×14\, no smaller than 8.5×11 (Most brands are acceptable but prefer it not to be Borden and Riley). Also\, a couple of drawing pencils of different softness within the range of H to 4B\, and a double ended brush pen such as the Tombow Dual Brush Pen in dark grey or black. The instructor will let you know if additional materials need to be purchased as the series progresses. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Watercolorist Chris Magnuson loves painting\, but his passion for drawing will always come first. He wants his students to enjoy it just as much as he does and to never stop exploring their creativity.
