DESCRIPTION:Starts November 14th (Tuesdays from 1:30PM-4:30PM for 6 weeks). \nBrush up on your skills and follow up on what was learned in Wheel Throwing Part One. Participants must be reasonably comfortable (not proficient\, but know the procedure) with centering and throwing a three inch cylinder. We will review centering and throwing a cylinder and go on from there to making different lids\, handles\, and go over glazing. Also covered will be bowls and various spouts. The instructor can demonstrate most things students are interested in or curious about. As a nonprofit Art Center\, we depend on the generosity of our wonderful friends and neighbors to help us build community. We offer affordable and accessible art experiences to all and we make it easy for you to support our mission by putting together gorgeous artwork for you to purchase. Buying one of the items from our auction is a WIN WIN WIN–it benefits the artist (they receive 50% of the sale)\, it benefits you (you get the inspiring artwork for you or a loved one)\, and it benefits Artascope (with much needed capital to execute our mission). What could be better? \nBe sure to check out the 90+ artworks available in our fundraising auction\, available online until the Closing Reception. It is an impressive mash-up of creative output featuring handcrafted items and paintings from some of the best artists in Maine. Works by Eric Jacobsen\, Liz Prescott\, and Garin Baker are included\, as well as discounted art classes and beautiful jewelry and ceramics made by our members\, teachers\, and friends. \nArtwork that has not already been sold will be on view at Bickford Pavilion\, 1 Railroad Square\, Yarmouth\, Maine on Saturday\, September 23rd from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
