SUMMARY:Beginner Silver Ring Bands One-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 15th from 9:30AM-4:30PM \nIn this workshop students will make their own silver rings from start to finish. This class will cover basic metalsmithing skills\, such as cutting\, shaping\, and joining metal. You will customize your ring bands with surface design techniques such as filing\, stamping\, and hammering. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials kit can be purchased at the beginning of the workshop. (For safety\, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.) \n*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026. \nWe will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break\, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own\, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. \nOpen to adults only. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts March 24th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The estimated $35* materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 28th from 1:30PM-7:30PM\nTake an exciting journey through the fundamentals of the metals studio with this metalsmithing workshop! Beginners are welcome; a $45 materials fee will provide all the supplies needed to complete the project. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials. The estimated materials kit fee is $45* and will be available to purchase from the instructor at the beginning of the workshop. Kit includes: Brass and copper sheet\, with sterling silver bezel wire for setting the stone. Use your skills and knowledge from Beginner Metalsmithing and explore your ideas further in the direction of more advanced jewelry making. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK AND PENCIL. NOTE: In this Intermediate series\, students will provide their own materials and can work in copper\, brass\, bronze\, and/or sterling silver. A link to a recommended materials list can be found below or you can bring in materials you already own. \nFYI: Due to the high cost of silver from the metals market fluctuation in 2026\, we recommend you purchase less expensive metals\, such as brass or copper to practice the techniques covered in this series. \nStudents will make: \n\n1 pair of earrings\n1 ring with bezel set stone\n1 pendant with bezel set stone\n2 independent study projects (project of your choice with what you have learned)\n\nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nNOTE: There will be no materials kit for this intermediate class.
