SUMMARY:Intermediate Metalsmithing - Monday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts July 7th (Mondays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nExpand your knowledge in this experimental intermediate series. Use your skills and knowledge from Beginner Metalsmithing and explore your ideas further in the direction of more advanced jewelry making. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK AND PENCIL. \nStudents will make: \n\n1 pair of earrings\n1 ring with bezel set stone\n1 pendant with bezel set stone\n2 independent study projects (project of your choice with what you have learned)\n\nWe will be working with copper\, brass\, and sterling silver. \nPlease note: It is important that students have basic metalsmithing knowledge\, either through the beginner 6-week metalsmithing course at Artascope or a comparable class. \nMETALS USED: Copper\, Brass & Sterling Silver Mixed Metals \nFee does not include materials. The required $65 materials kit fee can be paid directly to the instructor at the first class via Venmo\, CASH\, or credit card. Additional supplies can be purchased separately as needed for class projects. \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Olivia Boi creates jewelry at her home and metals studio in Maine. SUMMARY:Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:Starts July 8th (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.) \nLearn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun\, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering\, soldering\, and riveting\, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff\, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request. \nFee does not include materials. The required $25 materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet\, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with. \nOptional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects). \nNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200. \nOpen to adults only. Please contact us directly if you are interested in seeing metalsmithing options for teens. \n \n  \n  \n\nAbout the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee\, FL before making the move back home to Maine. SUMMARY:Spinner Rings - Saturday Metalsmithing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 12th from 1:30PM-7:30PM\nThis workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of the metals studio\, including tools\, safety\, soldering\, filing\, and sanding\, to help you create a beautiful and unique spinner ring. This course is suitable for beginners\, and there is a $30 materials fee\, which will provide you with everything you need to complete your spinner ring. \n$99 workshop fee does not include materials.
