Signet Ring Wax Carving Two-day Workshop on January 9th (full-day) and January 30th (half-day).
Learn the ancient technique of lost wax casting. In the first class on Sunday, January 9th from 9AM-4PM, you will design, lay out, and carve a signet ring in your choice of several shapes.
We next meet on Sunday, January 30th from 9AM-NOON for you to clean up and finish your ring after it is cast in your choice of silver or brass.
Basic wax carving, tool use, and finishing techniques will be covered. No prior metalsmithing experience necessary.
$149 workshop fee does not include materials. Supply kit available from instructor for $35 when series begins. (For safety, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.)
We will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm on the first workshop day. Bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in the area.
NOTE: COVID-19 protocols are in place for the safety of our teachers and students, including wearing masks while inside the building.

About the instructor: Carly Cooke has been a full-time bench jeweler since 2012, and started her business, Flux Jewelry Studio in 2018. Carly pieced together her jewelry education through workshops at Haystack, Metalwerks, SMCC, and an inspiring year in Florence, Italy learning traditional metalsmithing techniques. Carly specializes in custom wedding and engagement jewelry, filigree, and unique engraved finishing details.
