We appreciate your interest in our classes for adults. Our 6-week Artist Series meet once a week for 3 hours and cost $250 per 6-week session. Our One-Day Workshops typically cost $99. CANCELLATION POLICY:
If cancelling up to a week before class starts, refunds are available (less a $25 processing fee). / If cancelling within a week before class starts, refunds are 25% of purchase price. / If cancelling within 48 hours of a class start, you will not receive a refund. We will do our best to find you a comparable class at our discretion. / If cancelling within 24 hours of a class start, you will not receive a refund or credit.

Metalsmithing for Beginners Tuesday 6-week Artist Series
Starts February 3rd (Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for six weeks.)
Learn the basics of jewelry metalsmithing in a fun, relaxed atmosphere–no prior experience required. Each class will introduce tools and techniques to include hammering, soldering, and riveting, as well as ways to shape and texture metal. Class projects include a hammered cuff, fold-formed leaves and simple soldered rings as well as samples to inspire individual creativity and ways to customize projects. This series will also include important information on tool & equipment safety. A class overview can be emailed upon request.
Fee does not include materials. The estimated $30* materials supply kit can be purchased directly from the instructor. The required kit includes brass and copper in various sizes of wire and sheet, one piece of sterling silver for a ring and some other materials to experiment with.
*NOTE: This is an approximate cost and actual kit cost may be different due to the metals market fluctuation in 2026.
Optional: A selection of sterling silver wire and ready-made bezels and stones is available for additional purchase from the instructor (not required for class projects).
Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.

About the instructor: Kim Round got her degree in art at Florida State University and taught jewelry workshops in Tallahassee, FL before making the move back home to Maine. She has been teaching Beginning Metalsmithing and other workshops at Artascope since 2016 and is thrilled to be part of a friendly & creative community. She is a member of the Maine Crafts Association and her work can be found at the Center for Maine Craft and Archipelago/The Island Institute store.
