We appreciate your interest in our classes for adults. Our 6-week Artist Series meet once a week for 3 hours and cost $250 per 6-week session. Our One-Day Workshops typically cost $99. Current studio members receive 20% off all classes offered at Artascope. For info about inclement weather and how it might affect classes, please click HERE.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If cancelling up to a week before class starts, refunds are available (less a $25 processing fee).  /  If cancelling within a week before class starts, refunds are 25% of purchase price.  /  If cancelling within 48 hours of a class start, you will not receive a refund. We will do our best to find you a comparable class at our discretion.

Foundations of Ceramics 6-week Artist Series

September 18, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Starts Monday, September 18th (Mondays from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.)

Enjoy a hands-on educational and artistic experience using clay. Students will learn fundamental making and decorating techniques including wheel throwing, handbuilding and glazing, as well as sculpting techniques such as coil building, pinching and handbuilding to create functional and non-functional work. Weekly projects include making cups, bowls, and plates. Electric kiln-firing will be available and each person will be working at his or her own level with the guidance of the instructor.

Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.

Masks are optional for this series.

Fee does not include materials. Clay will be three dollars a pound which covers basic glazing and firing costs.

About the instructor: Barry Harrison attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics.

Although there are tools available for use in the studio, if you prefer to have your own tools, these are the basic materials to bring to class:

  • Basic Pottery Tool Kit
  • Apron (or wear something that can get dirty)
  • Small plastic bucket
  • Rags
  • Gloves
  • Dust mask

You can order a Basic Pottery Tool kit from Dick Blick or a local craft store.
