Forged Spirals – Teen Saturday Metalsmithing Workshop

December 21 @ 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Saturday, December 21st from 1:30PM-7:30PM

In this teen workshop, we will create bold circular shapes with a hammer to forge pendants, earrings, or even links for a bracelet or necklace. We will also explore other ways to use the hammer to create different designs. This is an opportunity to use a hammer and anvil to manipulate metal to create organic, fluid designs. We will cover hammering techniques, hole-punching, annealing and soldering.

$99 workshop fee does not include materials.

Materials cost: $25 for 2′ of silver, $4 for copper—Cash only please, materials fee is payable to the instructor the day of the workshop. More metal will be available to purchase if needed.

(For safety, be sure to wear closed toe shoes and have long hair pulled back with clips or in a ponytail.)

We will have an hour break for midway through the workshop. The studio will remain open if you wish to bring a snack. There are also nearby parks where you can eat if you brought your own, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area.

About the instructor: Pamela Bosco taught herself the basics of metalsmithing and later worked with Goldsmith, Sam Shaw as a bench jeweler. In 2000, she started Bosco Jewelry and sold her line of hammered wrap jewelry to museum stores and galleries for over 20 years. While still creating her signature design, she also works to create more one-of-a-kind and custom designs and sells her work online and to a handful of galleries. And, she also enjoys teaching, particularly teens.
