We appreciate your interest in our classes for adults. Our 6-week Artist Series meet once a week for 3 hours and cost $250 per 6-week session. Our One-Day Workshops typically cost $99. If cancelling up to a week before class starts, refunds are available (less a $25 processing fee). / If cancelling within a week before class starts, refunds are 25% of purchase price. / If cancelling within 48 hours of a class start, you will not receive a refund. We will do our best to find you a comparable class at our discretion.

Business of Art – Six-Week Artist Series via ZOOM

ZOOM link is open to participants by 10:45 AM each week, so folks can say hello and prepare for class.
Are you looking to take your newfound or existing skills to the next level? Are you ready to start selling your work, but don’t know how to effectively promote yourself? Join us for this hands-on six-week series to learn how to: craft and refine your artist statement and biography; define your style; compile/organize images and content to set up a WordPress site; choose an e-commerce platform; the best practices for using social media; and how to create traditional promotional materials, such as business cards and brochures. There will be discussions about grassroots and collaborative projects, pop-up shows, exhibiting, publications, and other art opportunities. You’ll also learn additional tips and tricks from visiting artists.
ZOOM sessions and how it works: To allow for a more relaxed entry and exit, each session is open to participants by 10:45 AM, so folks can say hello and prepare. The session starts at 11AM with each participant sharing something about their week, followed by a teacher demonstration. Alex sends a link for the six weeks, and it remains the same for the duration. She send a weekly email with prompts, resources, and the ZOOM link.
Non-members: $195 for 6 weeks. Basic Members: $156.

About the instructor: Alex Rheault is local artist, curator, and writer from DC. Rheault worked with Illustration Institute’s Fashion Symposium in Fall of 2019 coordinating workshops and talks local artists and others attended. She is developing work for the Mending in 2021. Rheault served as an Adjunct Assistant Lecturer at UNE and Chair of Illustration at Maine College of Art. She was the Artistic Director for Quimby Colony’s Fashion, Costume and Textile Program. Rheault founded drawing room, where drawing and community collide. Rheault published drawings for the cover and in the UMVA’s Maine Journal, Winter 2017, and has written catalogue essays for other artists. Entities showing her work include CMCA, Ocean House Gallery, Whitney Art Works, Silvermine, the Portland Public Library, UNE Gallery, and Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce with reviews by Dany Kany.
