Starts Monday, March 23rd (Monday evenings from 6PM-9PM for six weeks.)
Students will learn the fundamentals of throwing on the potters wheel. This class will cover clay preparation (wedging), centering, opening and pulling the walls up to create functional forms like cups, bowls and plates. You will learn techniques like trimming, surface decoration, glazing, and firing. This class is for beginner to intermediate skill levels. Students will work at their own pace with guidance from the instructor.
Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.
Fee does not include materials. Clay and glaze can be purchased from Portland Pottery or from the instructor.

About the instructor: Barry Harrison attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics.

Although there are tools available for use in the studio, if you prefer to have your own tools, these are the basic materials to bring to class:
–Basic Pottery Tool Kit
–Apron (or wear something that can get dirty)
–Small plastic bucket
–Rags
–Gloves
–Dust mask
